Kenny is headed back to California by way of Wisconsin! Kenny will join the Peery Wildlife Ecology + Conservation lab at the University of Wisconsin, where he will work on a program to remove invasive barred owls from forests in Mendocino County.

After graduation from Cal Poly Humboldt, Christy accepted a position with the Watershed Stewards Program through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. She's monitoring fisheries in the Klamath River basin and hopes to gain experience in river restoration in preparation for graduate study.

Claudia graduated from Stony Brook University and has entered a single subject teaching credential program at CUNY Queens. In spring 2024, she served as a long-term substitute to teach middle school science.

Nargis is wrapping up her coursework at Sac State. She's kept in touch with friends from her summer at UC Davis, and is pursuing a career in nursing.

Hermosa spent 2024-2025 in a post-baccalaureate program that focused on culturally significant plants for the Nez Perce and Coeur d'Alene tribes. In fall 2025, she will start a masters program in Environmental Science and Natural Resources at Washington State University.

Mason Henry graduated in May 2023 and joined the Scott Loss lab at Oklahoma State University as a field technician. He worked with graduate student Tucker Taylor to study the interplay between birds and the ticks they carry, and woody plant encroachment in grasslands. He's now employed by the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology as a museum and field research assistant.

Luke, a junior at Connecticut College, continues to work with the Ross-Ibarra lab to expand his summer project on the influence of indigenous languages on maize genomics. He spent part of the 2022-2023 academic year in a "study somewhere else" program at the University of Hawaii. He's been seriously bitten by the phylogenetics bug and is conducting research at the Smithsonian in summer 2023 on the phylogeny of newly-discovered species of grapes. In Fall 2024, he will enter a PhD program at Fordham and CUNY, with a fellowship from the NY Botanical Garden Fellowship.

Trey earned honors in Biology and the Carolina Biological Supply Company award for undergraduate research at Wake Forest's 2023 commencement. He conducted research for a year at Wake Downtown, and in Fall 2024 will begin a PhD program at Michigan State University on urban avian ecology in the McGraw lab.

Bridget got a Fulbright! She wrote, "I'll be taking classes at Bangor University and doing research this summer before graduating in August [2024] with an MSc in Marine Biology. I hope to be doing community outreach around the seagrass restoration meadow as part of my engagement with the local community." Bridget now is a restoration research assistant with Project Seagrass, based in North Wales.

After graduation, Katelyn worked in Utah with mountain goats and pikas, in California with small mammals, in Wyoming with bats, and in New York with warblers. She currently wears two hats: she's the Field Technician/Manager for Dan Becker’s lab at the University of Oklahoma and has a joint appointment with Bat Conservation International to study white-nose syndrome in Texas bat populations.
